NI Offers Measurement Microphones Through G.R.A.S. Sound and Vibration

National Instruments today announced that NI Alliance Partner G.R.A.S. Sound & Vibration, a leading producer of acoustic front-end products, now sells microphone kits for use with NI dynamic signal acquisition (DSA) hardware. NI offers several different microphone types, from array microphones to condenser microphones appropriate for class 1 sound-level measurements. Customers in a number of industries, including aerospace and defense, are already having success using these products for applications like acoustic holography, environmental noise, noise mapping and sound power.

“For more than 10 years G.R.A.S. and NI have worked together on joint projects, and there has always been a great collaboration between our companies,” said Peter Wulf-Andersen, managing director at G.R.A.S. Sound & Vibration. “I am proud that one of the biggest players in the industry has chosen G.R.A.S. as an official partner.”

NI’s new microphone kits include a G.R.A.S. microphone capsule and preamplifier. Inside the capsule is a diaphragm made of a special stainless alloy that provides maximum sensor life. The microphones contain a Transducer Electronic Data Sheet (TEDS) chip and combine with NI DSA hardware to provide a plug-and-play sensor experience.

National Instruments Introduces NI Single - Board RIO Embedded With Multifunction I/O

National Instruments has announced four new NI Single-Board RIO board-level embedded devices featuring a real-time processor, Spartan-6 field-programmable gate array (FPGA), analog and digital I/O and more built-in peripherals for custom embedded control and monitoring applications. The new devices provide engineers with off-the-shelf FPGA and real-time processor technology through NI LabVIEW while maintaining the custom I/O often required for high-volume deployments through the option of a RIO Mezzanine Card connector. The connector provides direct access to FPGA digital input/output (DIO) lines and certain processor-specific functions for mating custom daughter cards. NI Single-Board RIO alleviates the effort of designing an entire system from scratch so designers can focus on the custom parts of their applications, such as the I/O.

With the new devices, engineers can achieve the shorter time to market of an off-the-shelf system along with the I/O customization offered by in-house designs, providing the best of both worlds. The devices also feature built-in analog I/O so engineers can take advantage of the company’s industry-leading analog expertise in addition to their application-specific circuitry. The devices’ low-cost, small form factor; built-in I/O; real-time processor; and FPGA provide an ideal platform for embedded monitoring and control applications in industries such as medical and energy.

Product Features:

- NI sbRIO-9623: 256 MB of memory, 128 MB RAM, 16 channels of 12-bit analog input, 4 channels of 12-bit analog output, 4 DIO, 96 RMC DIO

- NI sbRIO-9626: 512 MB of memory, 256 MB RAM, 16 channels of 16-bit analog input, 4 channels of 16-bit analog output, 4 DIO, 96 RMC DIO

- NI sbRIO-9633: 256 MB of memory, 128 MB RAM, 16 channels of 12-bit analog input, 4 channels of 12-bit analog output, 28 DIO

- NI sbRIO-9636: 512 MB of memory, 256 MB RAM, 16 channels of 16-bit analog input, 4 channels of 16-bit analog output, 28 DIO

Siemens expands and rebrands its dry solids flowmeter line

Siemens-Division Industry Automation expands its dry solids flowmeter product line with the new Sitrans WF100, Sitrans WF200, and Sitrans WF250 strain-gauge load cell based flowmeters. These new flowmeters provide effective measuring for compact installations and high capacity applications. Siemens also rebrands its Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) based Milltronics flowmeters into the Sitrans WF300 series.

Sitrans WF100 handles flowrates of 1 to 200 t/h (1 to 220 STPH), while the Sitrans WF200 series handles flowrates of 200 to 900 t/h (220 to 990 STPH). Sitrans WF250 is for use with air-activated gravity conveyors or air slides, typically found in cement processing. The Sitrans WF250's unique design includes an air chamber that separates the air from the material, thereby removing the impact of air on the sensing plate and providing accurate measurement. All of the Sitrans WF100 and Sitrans WF200 series flowmeters use patented triple beam parallelogram style load cells that have proven their reliability and durability for over 25 years in Siemens heavy-duty belt scales, offering superior accuracy and repeatability.

The new generation of two-pole voltage testers

A two-pole voltage tester can be found in every electrician's basic tool kit because it is the only test instrument for establishing the absence of voltage that fully complies with occupational safety regulations.

The updated standard for two-pole voltage testers (DIN VDE 0682-401:2011, DIN EN-61243-3:2010) came into effect on 1 May, 2010 and has a three-year transition period. We've acted without delay and already ensured that all our voltage testers comply with the newest standard. All six testers have been certified by TÜV and GS.
