ICONICS releases its New Quality AnalytiX SPC Software Solution

ICONICS, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner of the Year and provider of Web-enabled, OPC-based, HMI/SCADA Visualization and Manufacturing Intelligence software for Microsoft Windows® operating systems, announces the release of Quality AnalytiX®, a Statistical Process Control (SPC) quality analysis suite that is flexible enough to apply to any quality monitoring application, yet simple to configure and deploy. It offers an extensive set of SPC calculations, control charts, portal dashboard views and standard quality reports that can be applied in a variety of combinations to help pinpoint quality outliers. Quality AnalytiX is built upon ICONICS universal connectivity which, via a wide range of industrial and IT open standards, can easily connect to your equipment and systems to immediately drive improvements.

The demand to increase product quality and reduce scrap is critical in many manufacturing applications. The expectation to have Six Sigma or better conformance to product specifications is required today. Achieving best-in-class quality output requires continuous analysis and real-time quality control.

Quality AnalytiX utilizes ICONICS Hyper Historian™, a high performance mission critical plant data historian. The architecture supports large enterprise-wide quality programs as well as applications requiring very fast sample rates. Quality AnalytiX applies ICONICS browser-independent visualization technology, enabling it to publish all charts, dashboards and data views for viewing on any browser, tablet or smartphone. In addition, ICONICS multimedia alarming can advise of quality deviations through SMS emails, alerts and marquees.

Quality AnalytiX enables operators, quality personnel, manufacturing engineers and management to view quality SPC data and other production parameters impacting product quality. Users can apply any of the extensive set of SPC calculations to any process variable: X-bar, R-bar, S-bar, sigma, moving average, Cpk, Ppk and much more. Integrate SPC data into expressions and logic to drive corrective actions based on process trends.

iQuest Integrates Kepware's KEPServerEX to Deliver Augmented Reality View of Plant Floor

Kepware Technologies, a software development company focused on communications for automation, announced today that its flagship product has been integrated with iQuest, Inc.'s iQagent to deliver an augmented reality view of any industrial plant floor. The Kepware-supported iQuest, Inc. application turns any plant floor into a data-rich environment by allowing technicians to gather, view, and access all data associated with industrial machinery.

iQuest needed iQagent equipped to instantly connect with any machine regardless of its supported protocol. Engineered to support the OPC standard and over 150 different protocols, KEPServerEX allows iQagent to interact with virtually any piece of machinery to consolidate and display previously disparate resources, including operational data, schematics, technical resources, and URLs associated with the equipment process. The iOS-supported application uses QR codes to identify the equipment or process area in the user's vicinity and then displays all relevant process data, document links, and resources in a highly intuitive user interface on an iPad or iPhone display. iQagent turns any plant floor into a data-rich environment by providing technicians with an augmented reality view of production machinery.

Kepware's KEPServerEX is specifically engineered to connect disparate devices and applications. It easily manages, monitors, and controls diverse automation devices and software applications through a robust platform that supports an array of open standards. Kepware's OPC drivers offer the broadest set of support and remove the burden of learning new communications protocols and applications.

"In the Industrial Automation industry, there is no standard language for communications, like the widely known HTTP standard that you see on the Internet," said Bob Meads, Founder and CEO of iQuest. "So you can imagine how difficult it could be to get one application to connect to and communicate with disparate devices in an environment as diverse and complex as an industrial plant floor. With Kepware, it just worked."

Since partnering with Kepware, iQagent has been implemented by highly reputable customers, including the production facilities of one of the industry's largest automotive companies and one of the world's leading healthcare product developers.

Wonderware InTouch Access Anywhere allows round-the-clock zccess to Industry-leading HMI

Invensys, a focused supplier of state-of-the-art industrial software, systems and control equipment to the world’s major industries, has released its Wonderware® InTouch Access Anywhere™ software solution.

The new solution enables users to access plant-floor data via Wonderware InTouch® software, the world’s leading human machine interface software. It runs entirely and securely inside a web browser so users can connect to other InTouch applications at anytime from anywhere, using any mobile device, including Microsoft Surface tablets, iPads, iPhones, Androids and others. The software also supports Macintosh and Linux-based computer systems, as well as Microsoft Windows PCs and laptops. And because users are not required to install any software on their mobile device, the offering is remarkably easy to deploy, manage and maintain.
“This new offering complements Invensys’ broader mobile strategy to provide and improve real-time visualization, collaboration and execution at multiple levels of an organization,” according to Craig Resnick, vice president, ARC Advisory Group. “Along with delivering mobile solutions for reporting, decision-support, dashboards, workflow and workforce execution, this new offering also brings HMI visualization capabilities to mobile devices. These capabilities extend the company’s operations management software portfolio by providing plant operators and other key individuals with modern process optimization tools, regardless of their location or the task being performed, and in real time.”

InTouch Access Anywhere software is the newest capability in the company’s progressive suite of mobility solutions, which now includes workflow, reporting, analytics, visualization, maintenance management, operator training, data gathering and procedure management. In 2010, Invensys released its IntelaTrac offering, a mobile reporting and decision support system that enables workflow, data collection and general task management. In 2011, Invensys released its SmartGlance solution, an industrial reporting application that delivers secure, on-demand access to rich, graphical reports from any operations data source via mobile devices. In 2012, the company released its Work Tasks mobile offering, enabling plant personnel, regardless of their location, to respond immediately to assigned work tasks via the company’s ArchestrA Workflow software.
“InTouch Access Anywhere software emphasizes the depth and breadth of our capabilities when it comes to mobile and web-enabled solutions,” said Norm Thorlakson, vice president of HMI and supervisory software products for Invensys. “Providing this level of unprecedented, secure access to real-time plant information—without compromising functionality—empowers the modern workforce to minimize costs, improve operating efficiencies and drive real-time business optimization.”
The software, along with the Invensys’ entire suite of complementary mobility offerings, will be on display and demonstrated at the company’s customer conference covering its Avantis, SimSci and Wonderware software offerings. The event will be held October 15 through October 17 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
