PAC, a leading global provider of advanced analytical instruments for laboratories and online process applications, recently released its latest version of the MicroDist, the most advanced online distillation analyzer on the market. Its unique technology provides complete and accurate distillation and density analysis in a single instrument. With the new density analysis, the applications for the MicroDist are expanded, including calculating the Cetane Index for diesel fuel process streams and intermediate blends according to ASTM D4737 and D976.
With complete distillation results in less than 10 minutes that correlate to ASTM D86, the MicroDist enables refineries to make quick and accurate decisions to continuously control the process and increase profitability. With this instrument, refineries are able to maximize production with cut point optimization of the crude oil; increasing T90% by 1°C may result in .5% to 1% additional diesel production, which can, depending on production levels, increase profits up to $1 Million.
"Refining business complexity keeps increasing, making timely decisions even more important to drive improved profitability for our customers,” said Daniel Benitez, PAC Vice-President of Process Analytics. “Recognizing this challenge, the expanded analytical capability of the MicroDist supports process plant optimization and reduces product quality giveaway.”

Topics such as integration, remote control or intelligent data management are becoming increasingly important. The precise volume measurement of the water is critical to process control and optimization, and also billing. This is the world of Proline Promag 400. The new Promag 400 combines industry-optimized design with experience and innovation. Compliance with guidelines for custody transfer (OIML R49 and MI-001) and the providing of industry-relevant drinking water approvals are certainties.
Smar AuditFlow V7 has been granted another important certification in the legal metrology area. In addition to INMETRO approval, the system now has certification from NMi, the technical agency located in Dordrecht, Netherlands. This certification complies with the Measuring Instruments Directive (2004/22/EC) responsible for the area in Europe. The directive was issued on April 2004 and the legal implementation measure has a transition period from October 2006 to October 2016. The great novelty in the new legislation is the approval of a model with automatic validity in all European Union countries. Prior to it, the model approval was required by the metrology agency of each country.
The new DMU-5010, Ethernet I/O module which supports the Modbus TCP protocol has been designed specifically for wind power equipment monitoring and general automation, has been toughened up and given even greater performance. Now, with a cast iron casing and greater range of Digital input (DI) and Digital Output (DO) ports located at the front of the module it’s even easier to mount and wire the DMU-5010 on DIN-Rails or walls.
Acromag’s new TT339 frequency transmitter converts the rate of pulsed, sinusoidal and other periodic waveform input signals to a proportional 0-20mA, 0-10V, or ±10V DC output. This versatile signal conditioner accepts unipolar and bipolar input signals with amplitudes up to 120Vrms (±170V DC) and frequencies up to 100KHz. Setting your input/output ranges and other operating parameters is extremely easy using a PC with free configuration software and a convenient USB connection to the transmitter. Common uses involve monitoring power line frequency, flow rates, rotational speed, and periodic events. A flexible power requirement (12-32V DC), wide temperature range (-40 to 80°C), and rugged design make the TT339 ideal for many applications, even in hazardous locations (Class 1, Div 2, Zone 2). Single quantity list price starts at $275 USD.
