System Integrators and Automation Suppliers Can Work Synergistically in India

A Report by ARC Advisory Group: Driven by India’s economic growth, the demand for a wide range of industrial goods, such as automotive, consumer durables, food and beverage, drugs and pharmaceuticals, and others, is on the increase.  The mismatch between supply and demand provides the impetus for greenfield projects to come up alongside projects associated with plant upgrades and expansions.  This provides the right framework for the growth of the automation market, which in turn spurs the expansion of the system integrators’ (SI) business.

Manufacturing companies in India are increasingly turning to system integrators to implement automation projects and seamlessly integrate disparate systems.  System integrators technically bridge the gap between end users and automation suppliers.  Often, a good automation system implementation involves integration of subsystems from various suppliers, and SIs work as implementation partners.  From an end user perspective, real-time performance management, which involves collaboration among automation systems and enterprise solutions, is important.  Therefore, end users turn to SIs, having the necessary skill-set, to integrate various technology solutions.  Resulting from these developments, India has emerged as the home of good SI firms.

Amplicon adds two new industrial grade Wi-Fi access points

Amplicon have added two new industrial grade Wi-Fi access points to their portfolio from industry leading manufacturer Moxa. The AWK-3131 and the AWK-4131 have been designed to meet the growing demands for faster data transmission speeds and wider signal coverage.

These new models support IEEE 802.11n which incorporates MIMO technology for data-rates of up to 300Mbps and reliability unrivalled by any previous Wi-Fi technology. Key features include compatibility on either the 2.4 or 5 GHz frequency bands, backwards-compatibility with existing 802.11a/b/g wireless client devices and Turbo roaming for faster client roaming speeds. Dual redundant power inputs, PoE (802.3af) compatibility and a selection of models with different operating temperatures make these access points the perfect choice for installations where commercial grade equipment is simply not suitable.

The AWK-3131 is designed for industrial indoor environments, where as the AWK-4131 has an outdoor IP67 rated enclosure with M12 connectors for secure, sealed connections which are extremely resilient to shock and vibrations.

Emerson introduces configuration & diagnostics tool for Coriolis flow and density meters

BOULDER, COLO (January 10, 2012) -- Emerson Process Management announces the release of Micro Motion® ProLink III®, a Microsoft® Windows-based configuration and service tool for Micro Motion Coriolis flow and density transmitters. ProLink III is an intuitive configuration, data-logging, and troubleshooting tool for the range of Micro Motion Coriolis flow and density products.

The Micro Motion ProLink III Configuration Tool utilizes Emerson’s Human Centered Design approach for an intuitive interface that improves overall functionality and ease of use. Customers looking to streamline work practices, improve process control, trend and remotely troubleshoot meters in the field will benefit from this latest version of ProLink. Once connected, process variables and alerts are immediately seen through a single, user-friendly, full diagnostics display. To better interrogate field issues, ProLink III identifies fault conditions that are then separated by severity, allowing the user to prioritize alerts. Additionally, the guided connection wizard, the simulated device feature and the offline configuration tool all help decrease commissioning time and reduce start-up costs by limiting the opportunity for mistakes. The response time of this software tool is unmatched by anything else previously offered.
