Technip awarded contract by JBF Petrochemicals for a world-scale petrochemical plant in India

Technip has been awarded by JBF Petrochemicals, a wholly–owned subsidiary of JBF Industries Ltd, an important contract(1) for a 1.25 million tons per year latest-generation purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit, to be located in the Special Economic Zone in Mangalore, India. PTA is the primary feedstock for polyesters used in textiles and packaging.

The contract covers the basic engineering, front-end engineering design, detailed engineering and procurement services for the ISBL (Inside Battery Limit) and the OSBL (Outside Battery Limit) of the unit. The scope of work also includes supply of materials and construction management services for the ISBL. The plant will feature BP’s leading-edge proprietary PTA technology.

Technip’s operating centers in Rome, Italy and in Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi, India will execute the contract, which is scheduled to be completed in the first semester of 2015.

Yokogawa Wins Control System Order for Large Combined Cycle Power Plant in Korea

Yokogawa Electric Corporation has announced that its subsidiary, Yokogawa Electric Korea Co., Ltd., has won an order from Samsung C&T Corporation* to supply control systems for the Dongducheon combined cycle power plant, which is being constructed in the city of Dongducheon, which is located in the northern part of South Korea's Gyeonggi Province.

This power plant will have two 950 MW combined-cycle power units employing state-of-the-art gas turbines, giving it a total capacity of 1,900 MW, and the first of these units is scheduled to start operation in October 2014. The primary contractor for this independent power project is Dongducheon Dream Power Company, Ltd., which was jointly established by Korea Western Power Co., Ltd., Samsung C&T Corporation, and Hyundai Development Company.

Yokogawa will deliver the CENTUM® VP integrated production control system for controlling and operating the facilities of the entire plant including gas turbines, exhaust gas heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), and steam turbines.

Daelim Signs Contract to Build Philippines’ ZAM 100 Coal-Fired Thermal Power Plant

Daelim has recently signed a contract to build a USD 213 million (KRW 228.7 billion) ZAM 100 Coal-Fired Power Plant with the Alcantara Group in Manila, Philippines. President Lee Chul-gyun, Daelim’s Plant Business Division Head, and related personnel of the client attended the contract signing ceremony.

This project was ordered by the Alcantara Group’s power generation subsidiary, San Ramon Power Inc., and total power generation capacity is 100MW. The plant will be built in Zamboanga, Philippines, and construction will take 35 months. Daelim will supply in EPC turnkey fashion the master design, detailed designs, and plant’s core facilities – boilers and main equipment -- and subsequently carry out the test run as well. In particular, the company plans to construct an eco-friendly power plant by applying circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler that can sharply reduce air pollutants such as nitrogen oxide or sulfur oxide compared to the existing thermal power plants.

Gazprom and NOVATEK setting up joint venture for LNG production in Yamal Peninsula

In April 2012 Gazprom and NOVATEK signed the Memorandum of Cooperationoint for a  joint venture to build up integrated capacities on LNG production in the Yamal Peninsula.. The document envisages studying a possibility of establishing joint ventures to build up integrated capacities on LNG production in the Yamal Peninsula.

Based on the Memorandum of Cooperation, Gazprom and NOVATEK has signed an Agreement on setting up a joint venture for liquefied natural gas (LNG ) production in the Yamal Peninsula. The joint venture will carry out pre-front end engineering and design studies, elaborate project documents, work out a plan for the LNG plant construction and a joint program for development of the fields where the company will act as an operator for the facilities development and arrangement.

Until the end of the year it is scheduled to approve a comprehensive program for project implementation, including the main project features and deadlines, as well as the timescale for the final investment decision-making, the financial scheme and the terms of financing.

CB&I wins Esso Longford Gas Conditioning Plant Project Contract worth $550 Million

CB&I announced today that it has been awarded a contract, valued at approximately US$550 million, by Esso Australia Resources Pty Ltd. for work at its Longford, Victoria, Australia site.

CB&I’s work scope includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction of the Longford Gas Conditioning Plant, which is designed to handle 400 million cubic feet per day of gas from the Kipper, Tuna and Turrum fields in Bass Strait.

“We are very pleased to be awarded this contract which builds on our decades of experience working with ExxonMobil on a wide range of energy infrastructure projects around the world, including our current work with Esso Highlands Ltd. in Papua New Guinea,” said Philip K. Asherman, President and CEO. “This award leverages our global EPC capabilities as well as our more than 75 years of experience in Australia.”
